What we require
from you to do a quotation.
In order for us to
quote accurately, we need enough information to
work it out.
For common printing orders, such as standard
invoice books, or similar forms, we have standard
set prices. For everything else, we need to
calculate it.
If any information is missing or withheld, we will
have to guess.
For example: if invoices are in colour, but we are
not told, we will expect it to be in black.
A tight deadline might also mean choosing a
different process. So giving us your schedule also
helps.
If there is too much guesswork, the quote will be
an "estimate"
If the work is different to what was expected when
we did the quotation, then we will need to
re-quote before the work can commence.
Your
own artwork
If you are providing
the original artwork or file for us to print from,
we need a copy of it to quote (even a draft copy
will help).
It may mean the price is reduced, as we do not
need to charge for artwork. But possibly it is not
in a format that we can use, or we need to convert
or edit it.
There are a number of considerations for the
quotation that you may not think about which a
copy of your artwork will answer. Such as ink
coverage, if the artwork bleeds, if it is spot
colour or process colour, etc.

Basic information to quote.
This information is
required to quote:
- Your name: the name of the organisation
or individual responsible. Not just a first
name!
- A basic description (letterhead,
booklet, pamphlet etc.)
- How many copies, books etc.
- How many pages or sets in a book
- For forms, how many in a set (duplicate,
triplicate etc.)
- Size required
- Is the original supplied or do we have to
produce artwork, draw a logo or do a design?
- Ink colours. If different pages have black
or full colour, how many of each (supplying
the artwork will answer this)
- Paper or board required
- The type of binding required.
It would also be helpful if you indicate if
quality or cost-cutting are priority. There may be
other information required. Any missing
information will mean some guesswork!
